In the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the morning of Monday, July 13, 2026 (22 Tir 1405), it is stated: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the aggressive attacks by the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 24 hours. These barbaric attacks are not only a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4, but also constitute a serious threat to international peace and security, rendering all recent months-long efforts to reduce tensions and establish calm in the West Asia region futile.
The statement further clarifies: While only 25 days have passed since the signing of the war-ending memorandum, the U.S. regime has explicitly violated almost all components of that agreement. By attacking Iran’s transportation infrastructure, fishing boats and cargo vessels, and meteorological facilities and buildings, it has committed the most heinous war crimes.
The use of neighboring countries’ territory for attacks on Iran draws them into America’s illegal war
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran added in this statement: The U.S. regime has also, through blatant interference in the process of implementing the necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, caused a return of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disrupted international commercial shipping. Simultaneously, by utilizing the territory and facilities of countries located on the southern rim of the Persian Gulf to prepare for military aggression against Iran, the U.S. terrorist army has effectively turned these countries into a battlefield for its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian nation.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifies: While emphasizing its determination to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran against U.S. military aggression and any other aggressor, the Islamic Republic of Iran warns against any participation or cooperation with the aggressor parties. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that, according to international law, neighboring countries are obligated to prevent aggressor parties from using their territory and facilities to commit military aggression against Iran; any origin or source of attacks against Iran will be a legitimate target for the defensive strikes of the brave armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The U.S. President’s claim regarding the Muscat negotiations is pure falsehood
The statement continues: While breaking the pact, the U.S. governing body continues its campaign of disinformation and the dissemination of fake news to distort facts and justify its lawbreaking. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that what the U.S. President claimed on Saturday regarding the outcome of the Muscat negotiations is pure falsehood and stems from desperation; the Muscat negotiations were essentially focused on arrangements for the management of the Strait of Hormuz and transit routes, and unfortunately, the United States, through overt and covert pressure on Oman, prevented any outcome from being reached.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran added: Expressing regret over the non-constructive approach of the United Nations Secretariat regarding the clear lawbreaking and bullying by the United States, the Ministry highlights the responsibility of the Secretary-General and the Security Council of this organization to address the violation of international peace and security. It calls for the aggressor parties to be held accountable and for the commanders and perpetrators of the crimes committed against the Iranian nation to be prosecuted and punished.
