Personal Background
Brigadier General Amir Hatami was born in 1966 in a religious and devout family in Zanjan province. He completed his education in his hometown. Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, he became an active member of the Basij and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AJA). He served in the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) and participated in various operations, most notably the decisive Operation Mersad.
Military & Operational Career
General Hatami’s military record is characterized by his active involvement in countering counter-revolutionary groups, the MKO (Mujahedin-e Khalq), and insurgent teams in the northwestern and western operational zones of Iran. For his significant role in securing these regions, he was awarded a formal commendation by the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. In 1998, in recognition of his service and competence, he was promoted to Brigadier General (Second Class) and appointed Deputy Intelligence Chief of the Army.
