The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) announced in a statement that over the past 24 hours, three violating oil tankers attempting to make an illegal passage through the polluted corridor south of the Strait of Hormuz with their radars turned off struck naval mines, exploded, and were abandoned off the southern coast of the strait.

In an official statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) reported explosions and fires aboard three violating oil tankers within the sensitive southern waterways of the Strait of Hormuz. These vessels had engaged in high-risk navigation through unauthorized routes by disregarding international protocols and regional defense and patrol warnings.
According to official reports from the IRGC media office and IRNA, over the past 24 hours, these three vessels turned off all radar equipment, navigational transponders (AIS), and identification systems, attempting to pass through the unauthorized and unsafe routes of the southern sector of the Strait of Hormuz despite repeated radio warnings from IRGCN maritime control units.
Due to entering a prohibited zone contaminated with explosive barriers, the vessels struck naval mines, suffering heavy explosions and fires—a situation that ultimately led to the abandonment of the vessels along the southern coastline of the Strait of Hormuz.
Emphasizing that illegal routes in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are hazardous, the IRGCN stated in its communiqué: “The full responsibility for any financial and human losses resulting from entering this zone lies with the owners, insurance companies, and crews of the vessels themselves. Mariners must not compromise their shipping security by relying on the claims and propagandistic illusions of the terrorist CENTCOM command in the virtual space.”
Reminding readers that real security balance is determined on the battlefield, the statement concluded: “Any unconventional and provocative action instigated or supported by the terrorist U.S. Army with the aim of violating territorial laws and flouting the safety regulations of the Strait of Hormuz will be met with a rapid, uncompromising, and decisive response from the country’s maritime security defenders.”
